Real Talk About Racism: An LMTI Virtual Series
LMTI always strives to connect people from varied backgrounds so that we can all learn and grow together. However, we know that as an organization, we have an absolute responsibility to better support and show up for our BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People Of Color) youth, volunteers, and alumni, and to provide learning opportunities that go beyond "diversity & inclusion." We must actively engage the youth and adults we work with in trainings and experiences that are developed and implemented through a much more equitable lens, and that are rooted in anti-racism.
We kicked off our Real Talk About Racism series with a powerful panel discussion facilitated by Marlon Smith during our Virtual Summer Leadership Conference in August of 2020. This conversation served as a starting point for our continued discussions, conversations, workshops, and action steps. At LMTI, we are recommitting ourselves to doing all we can to support and amplify the voices of our BIPOC youth, to provide opportunities of learning and growth for our non-BIPOC youth, and to create a forum for all youth (and the adults who work with youth!) to come together to work towards change.
We hope you will join us on this journey. Check below for upcoming events!
